Wake Community Flyers
Lifelong Learning with Community Schools
Wake County Public School System prides itself on providing families with the information and resources needed to help raise healthy and prosperous youth. Lifelong
Learning with Community Schools, a program of WCPSS, has turned printed school flyers into digital flyers and offers you this monthly communication to share those local
community resources and services beneficial to families in their school community and surrounding areas. Additionally, WCPSS programs, resources, and school-specific
information are provided to ensure families have the most up-to-date and relevant information
Why turn printed school flyers into digital flyers?
There are a few reasons that makes switching to digital flyers a better choice.
- Provide WCPSS Families with Community Relevant Information
Wake Community Flyers seeks to provide a WCPSS family resource for finding available family and youth-oriented resources and services in Wake County and the surrounding areas.
- Reduce Paper Usage for the Environment
Feed the Bin is a recycling program used at 203 Wake County Public School System schools. According to data provided by Wake County Solid Waste Management Division, 262.7 tons of paper, metal cans, and plastic bottles have been recycled from the schools since July 2022. Taking steps to reduce paper usage is one step in reducing environmental waste.
- Take Responsibility for Managing Flyers Off of the Schools' Already Full Plates
School staff have enough to do in their everyday responsibilities. Wake Community Flyers takes the responsibility of distributing and vetting flyers to ensure they meet WCPSS Board Policy Code: 5210 Distribution and Display of Non-School Material.
What does the Wake Community Flyers communication look like and how will families receive it?
On the first of each month, Wake Community Flyers sends emails and texts to families that are subscribed to WCPSS newsletter communications. The communication provides a link to a school's regional landing page. From there families click on their children's school link taking them to a school-specific Wake Community Flyers webpage. This page houses digital flyers specifically for the chosen school. From there, families can review the flyers, click on the flyer that interests them, and utilize that flyer-specific communication information to learn more.
